Registration is now open for the Virtual MPower Workshop for Church Leaders, which will take place February 12-13 from 10:00 AM Central Time to 3:45 PM Central Time. This mid-week virtual training event is free of charge and designed to allow church leaders and teams to experience MPower from their respective locations.
“We know the weight of ministry can be a lot to bear, and we want to come alongside pastors and other church leaders and support them in caring for people who are hurting,” says Melanie Wise, Senior Director of Content and Outreach at Mercy Multiplied. Mercy’s Outreach team encourages church leaders and their teams to participate in this virtual workshop and process what they learn together.
MPower answers questions like: How can I help people who don’t want help? How do I engage with hurting people and maintain healthy boundaries? How can the church address the epidemic of mental health issues all around us? How do I serve others well while protecting and caring for my family?
“Church leaders need to prepare for questions related to mental, emotional, AND spiritual health,” says Wise, “and those in shepherding roles need to be ready with real help for people who are hurting and struggling. In addition, staff and volunteers who work with people need to know how to guard their health and well-being as they serve others.” Sessions in the Virtual MPower Workshop include Helping Hurting People, Healthy Boundaries, and Safeguarding Yourself.
Past participants in MPower workshops include pastors and church leaders from all over the United States. Their testimonies illustrate the workshop’s impact.
“I definitely needed to hear these sessions,” wrote one pastor who participated in the Virtual MPower Workshop. “Especially since our son died suddenly at 38 years old, I’ve just buried myself in ministry ‘work’ and helping others. The Lord has opened my eyes to so much… My journey to freedom in Jesus continues, even in my 60’s.”
“I didn’t know what I didn’t know,” said James McKenzie, Discipleship Pastor at Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. “There are so many things as a pastor that we have to address and deal with. MPower gave me so much to help me understand the proper balance with my family. It helped me to better know the dos and don’ts of helping people and how to draw boundaries and take care of myself.”
Alec Darnell, a small group leader at Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee, described the MPower training as “Wonderful, specific, and personal.” And Pastor Greg Williamson, the Lead Pastor at Valley Church in Hopewell Junction, New York, said this about MPower: “The material was presented with humor, transparency, and biblical clarity in a way that gave all who attended not only the tools to walk in greater freedom themselves but also the confidence to help others find freedom through Christ.”
Lynn Holmes, Lead Pastor of Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Cordova, Tennessee, commented that MPower can help prevent ministry burnout. ” As a Pastor inundated with needs from our community and our own church, I was reminded that only God can change hearts and transform lives and that caregivers must live with boundaries or they will burn out.”
MPower equips Christians for effective ministry to individuals who are hurting and struggling. Mercy Multiplied created MPower training, which reflects the experience gained over forty years of helping people find freedom from life-controlling issues through our well-known Residential and more recently developed Outpatient Programs. Mercy’s Church Support Services offers this Virtual MPower Workshop curated for church and ministry leadership teams.
After participating in MPower, Liz Addington, Crisis Care Director at Elevation Church in Matthews, North Carolina, offered this word of encouragement for church leaders: “Take the time and steps to set your teams up – to be healthy, stay in the long haul, and care well.”
