My life before Mercy was completely unmanageable. I was crippled by drug addiction and was constantly trying to run from life. I was homeless and had lost my children. I was suicidal and thought my life was over.
I first heard about Mercy through Francesca Battistelli’s music video. Three years after learning about Mercy, I remembered hearing about it and went on the website to check it out. I decided to apply as a last-ditch effort to get my life back on track. I had exhausted all other efforts. When I arrived at Mercy, I had very little hope. I was underweight due to my severe addiction, and I didn’t know God. I was afraid and had little idea of what to expect.
After about a week of being here, God spoke to me and confirmed this is where I needed to be. The second turning point for me was working through the forgiveness portion of my Keys to Freedom. God really showed me areas and people in my life that I needed to forgive, and I felt his presence as I worked through that process.
At Mercy, God first and foremost showed me, that a relationship with him is safe, and I can trust him. He will never leave or forsake me. God revealed his presence to me in multiple ways, but most specifically through the selfless and unconditional love shown to me through other people. I learned my identity in Christ, and that I no longer have to answer to or be defined by my past. I am a new creation.
After Mercy, I am going to a transitional care living arrangement. I plan to finish my schooling, get my nursing degree, and start a food truck ministry.
Thank you so much for your support. Words cannot express how much your support has meant to me. My life has been completely transformed, and I will forever be grateful for Mercy and all those who make Mercy possible.
