I have been a Lauren Daigle fan from the first time I heard her debut single. The lyrics to her songs speak to my heart. They offer hope and encouragement. I especially love her newest song, “You Say”. Here is just a small sample of the lyrics from that song:

I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I’m not enough
Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up
Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low?
Remind me once again just who I am, because I need to know (ooh oh)
You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don’t belong, oh You say that I am Yours
And I believe (I), oh I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)

I wonder, why is it so easy to listen to the lies that the enemy tells us over the truth of who God says we are? I know I am guilty of this. Those voices cause us to doubt who we are and the truth of who God says we are. We are human and as Christians there is a real enemy who wants us to doubt who we are and ask the question, “Am I good enough for God?” We are a threat to the devil and all that he stands for. Scripture says, “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” (Luke 10:19, NIV)

Satan causes us to feel a sense of fear, doubt, shame, or guilt. The Bible says that those things do not have power over us because of who we are in Christ. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” In Christ we are fearless!

I want to encourage you, just like I need to encourage myself, that when you feel weak, God says you are strong. When you feel like you are falling short, God is holding you and supporting you. You are enough for God. There’s no need to keep trying to be perfect or to listen to the lies from the enemy telling you that you are not enough. He loves you just as you are, and He is on this journey of life with you.
