Sometimes it looks like a sleepless night. Other times, your heart begins to beat faster and faster. Maybe you get sick to your stomach or feel like it’s hard to breathe.
Many times worrying thoughts can feel out of our control. We find ourselves helpless against the anxieties and repetitive concerns flooding our minds.
The important thing to remember about worry is that it is an ACTIVE choice. Just like you choose to pray or surrender something to God, you have a choice to participate in worrying.
Luckily for us, God has the perfect antidote for any ailment worry can give us – His words and promises! By choosing to meditate on His Word, you can make a choice to replace worry with God’s truth. Here are a few of God’s promises that can be daily reminders to put our worries into His hands.
5 Scriptures for Fighting Worry
Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 34:4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Rest in His Promises
The Lord tells us that He is in control of everything, and for that reason alone, we don’t need to worry. He wants us to remember that His promises have always been and always will be fulfilled, so we can take comfort in every promise He has made to us.
So when you feel worried, remember that God meets you right where you are, and you have a choice to actively fight worry with God’s Truth!
