This year James River Church’s Designed for Life conference may have looked a little different, but the lasting impact it made on our residents was just as powerful. Each year, residents travel to this conference in Springfield, MO, but due to COVID19, the church shifted gears and offered this life-giving conference virtually. All the residents in our homes attended the different sessions, including a special breakout session lead by Mercy’s very own Founder and President, Nancy Alcorn.

During her session, Nancy shared some of the things she has learned and received from the Lord during this time of the lockdown to encourage attendees; including some practical ways that people can utilize Scripture to navigate this crazy season that we’re living in. She also encouraged people struggling to reach out for help right now, rather than waiting.

Our residents were greatly blessed by all the teachings and shared with us how this conference impacted their lives.

“God’s love was so evident in DFL conference. The Lord affirmed His purpose in me through DFL and I truly believe God not only has used DFL to impact me but will continue to use His word taught at DFL to move me forward into my call and purpose in His kingdom.” – Mercy Resident

“The DFL conference was absolutely wonderful! I love the messages about going on a path that leads home and I fell in love with Havilah’s message about the armor of God and using the sword of the spirit. I use her examples every day and her session reminded me to always have the armor of God with me! The DFL conference was absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to sign up for next year.”  – Mercy Resident

“Being part of DFL was such a special experience that impacted me in more ways than I can count. God showed up He was in every part of the conference. From worship to teaching to breakout sessions, God was present. A topic that Havilah spoke on was exactly a question I asked God the day before! God answered prayers during this conference! Pastor Debbie Lindell and the entire DFL team made it super special for us. Not only did they send us gifts, but the impact of those gifts on my heart was so special. I felt loved, seen, worthy, and special. This is something that has not happened often in my life. Thank you, Debbie, and the DFL team for providing an unforgettable experience that I will remember for years down the road.” – Mercy Resident

“I loved DFL because I was able to learn more about forgiveness and to forgive myself and others. It helped me to learn more about God and get closer to Him.” – Mercy Resident

“I really liked the theme this year of walking on the right path. It helped me to focus on God and make sure I’m following Him instead of making God follow me. He’s always moving we just have to follow Him.” – Mercy Resident

James River made this year’s conference extra special by sending our residents gift boxes that included a t-shirt, journal, bracelet, pillow, and other goodies.  We are so grateful to Pastors John and Debbie Lindell and how well they love on our residents.
