Each summer our residents enjoy a fun water sports day with the staff and volunteers at In His Wakes! Founded in 2003 by former slalom world record holder Kristi Overton Johnson, In His Wakes is a ministry that uses water sports to share Christ’s power and love. Through In His Wakes and their multiple programs, Johnson’s goal is to combine her love for water sports and her passion for seeing young people learn about the love of Christ.

Our residents participate in the “A Day to Remember” program, which allows them to see that their lives have value and purpose through participating in a variety of water sports. This program challenges them to “get off the dock” and take a leap of faith in a safe and supportive environment. Each year this program becomes a favorite among so many of our residents!

Here is what a few of our residents had to say about this impactful day:

“I had so much fun! Everyone from In His Wakes was so kind and encouraging. They really helped me to get off the dock! I cannot wait to go to In His Wakes again!”

“I was able to have fun regardless of what was going on in my personal life! I definitely got off the dock that day!”

“In His Wakes was such a fun special treat for us! I really didn’t know what to expect, so I was blown away by the whole experience. Everyone was just so encouraging, and it was set up so everyone could try everything and experience victory on whatever level each of us hoped to. I personally was encouraged to see that God really can use any kind of passion for ministry – even water skiing.  The ministry of In His Wakes was a huge blessing to me and to all of us residents.”

“Thanks to In His Wakes, I felt the rush of life again! Shredding waves with incredibly encouraging people was an experience like no other!”

We want to thank every staff member and volunteer who took the time to pour into our residents and make them feel safe and supported while they were trying something new.  Each of our residents enjoyed the opportunity to deepen their relationship with Christ in this unique way.
