This past Saturday, we hosted our annual Run for Mercy 5K and Family Fun Walk in St Louis. We were also scheduled to have a run in Monroe, but unfortunately, due to severe weather in the area, the Monroe 5K was cancelled. Here’s what you missed.

St Louis, MO Recap

The race festivities started off cloudy with misty rain, but as the runners started the course, the rain stopped and by the end of the race there was nothing but blue skies and fun times for all. 2015 Mercy graduate, Lindsay, shared her amazing story with the crowd, followed by 10-year-old, Ella Remley, singing the national anthem and Pastor Jeff Hosey from Connection Christian Church delivered the morning prayer.

This year’s Run For Mercy 5K and Family Walk was amazing in so many ways. said Karen Klarich, Mercy Community Relations Manager. We were so blessed to have the rain stop just as our runners and walkers headed out on the course. The rest of the morning was absolutely beautiful. We are so thankful to all our sponsors, committee members, and participants that make this event so special for our residents each year. The girls are always blown away by the immense love and support they receive from all of you who believe in them and make it possible for them and future young women to find hope and healing in Christ.

Taking home the prize for 5K Male Overall was Thomas Huling and 5K Female Overall was Kath G, who is also a current St. Louis Mercy resident. The 1st place fundraising team from the community this year was Mercy Crusader, led by team captain Beverly Hentges. We had a tie for 1st place individual fundraisers Adelaide Cole and Kimberly Poole. And a special recognition to our 2019 Mercy Girls Team who fundraised over $10,000 exceeding their team goal! THANK YOU to everyone who donated to make this incredible goal a reality!

Monroe, LA Recap

Although our Monroe 5K was cancelled, that didn’t stop Community Relations Manager, Caronda Williams, from connecting with participants. It was a really tough decision to call the race, but we knew we couldn’t risk the safety of our runners, said Williams. We let everyone know where they could pick up their race packets, and almost all of our participants were able to stop by, say hello, and pick up their packets. It was great connecting with everyone.

A big thank you to our 1st place individual fundraiser, Rita Wellbrink! We are so grateful to everyone who signed up for our Monroe 5K and we are especially grateful to all of our sponsors and their faithful support of Mercy.

All proceeds raised through the sponsorships, registration fees, and donations go toward helping broken and hurting young women find freedom for their lives. Mercy Multiplied is grateful for the generous sponsors, volunteers, and participants who made both events such a huge success!
