My early childhood was filled with abuse, and I experienced a lot of trauma. When I came to the United States in 1996, I struggled with a lot of anger, hurt, depression and confusion due to the childhood trauma.
I found out about Mercy Multiplied through my mom. She learned about the program through the Run for Mercy 5K and quickly told me all about it. I applied for the program because I wanted to get my life on track, and I needed help fast.
A major turning point for me while at Mercy was during a night of worship. As I worshiped, I felt God’s presence all around me. I felt like He actually reached out for me and touched my heart. I started crying and I couldn’t stop. It was so healing.
Through Mercy I found hope again and the confidence to start a new life living the way God wanted me to live. God brought back love and respect into my life. I learned to trust people again, and I definitely reclaimed my self-image and self-esteem. The biggest thing I took away from my time was a confidence in God’s trust in me to do well. I know that He will always remember me.
After graduating from Mercy I plan to get involved in church working with children and joining the worship team! Because I love to help others, I’m hoping to find a job working with disabled people. When God says I’m ready, I would love to get married to a great Christian guy and have kids.
To all the Mercy donors, I would just like to give you guys a big thanks for all you do for us Mercy girls. You are true blessings to us all!
