Susan grew up in a home filled with fear and physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. At the age of 14, after her oldest brother died, she began to self-harm to numb her pain and was frequently hospitalized as a result. Susan also developed an eating disorder and lost all hope, eventually forming a plan to end her own life.
When Susan came to Mercy, she began to read her Bible and was flooded with God’s peace and safety for the very first time. The love she felt from God and everyone at Mercy was unlike anything she’d experienced before, and she found herself reconnecting to Christ. Susan also reconnected to her love of music as a way to find healing in God’s presence. Since graduating from Mercy, Susan is now happily married and is a music therapist at the same hospital where she underwent treatment, offering others the hope and love that transformed her life.
