Before Mercy, I struggled with depression, anxiety, self-harm, and alcohol addiction. My life was very sad and I had little to hold on to that would keep me sane. I was smoking a lot of weed, and drinking whatever I could possibly get my hands on. I was at an all-time low and could not find anything that would help me in the long run. I failed to complete high school and was unmotivated. I was talking to unhealthy boys and girls, and also began to abuse my medication.

I found out about Mercy through a friend and I wanted to get better because I knew my life was not going anywhere.

A turning point for me was during the “renewing the mind” module where I learned to take thoughts captive and to not let them victimize me. Another turning point was in the “choosing to forgive” module where I saw how many things God had forgiven me for and I realized His love for me. The final turning point, was realizing that I was going to need God in my everyday life because I was not able to do life on my own anymore.

God has restored my innocence, renewed my mind, shown me true love, held my hand during the whole process, and showed me what forgiveness looks like, and helped me to do it.

After Mercy, I plan to go back home and make up for lost time with my family. I will be going back to work, training dogs. I hope to someday go to Washington and get involved in a church there and just enjoy the beautiful state.

To the donors, thank you so much for supporting my journey to freedom. I can’t thank you enough for loving me, and believing in me. I could see the love of God through your kindness, and will be forever grateful for your generosity. Thank you!!
