I was raised in a Christian family. My father was in and out of my life, which caused feelings of abandonment and rejection. My life seemed normal, until one day, I got molested. At the age of eight, I began to question my sexuality. I started to lash out sexually and acted out the things that happened to me. During this time, my mom moved, so that added to my feelings of abandonment and rejection. I then started to seek attention. I began people-pleasing to keep people in my life. A few years later, my brothers and I moved to be with my mom. That move impacted my life negatively. I began getting bullied throughout school. During a family trip, I got molested by a close family member. This brought a lot of shame and self-hate. I got involved in a same-sex relationship and pornography. I struggled with depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, people-pleasing, and performance issues. I barely liked to look at myself in the mirror, and I hated who I had become.

I learned about Mercy Multiplied through Seeds of Greatness Church, a supporter of Mercy. I was tired of the way I was living.

A turning point in my Mercy journey was when Arianna Walker, Mercy UK’s Chief Executive, came to the home to speak. She spoke about God having a purpose in our journeys. My journey at Mercy helped me to trust God. It helped me to allow Him to come alongside me. I was able to build safe relationships. Also, I learned to know how worthy I am, even through my mess.

After Mercy, I plan to attend school. I want to major in social work and communications. Also, I plan to get involved in my church and help others walk out their purpose in life.

Thank you to Nancy Alcorn and the donors of Mercy Multiplied for helping me to obtain freedom. I will be forever grateful.
