Residents at Mercy’s Nashville home recently enjoyed a special concert featuring youth from Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn, Alabama. Accompanied by their band, the ninety-member choir performed a variety of worship and praise songs for Mercy residents and staff. The audience also included around 25 parent chaperones traveling with the group.

Between the songs, several choir members shared their testimonies, and Mercy residents appreciated both the music and the stories. One resident commented, “The testimonies were powerful, and I loved the song Rain in the Rearview by Anne Wilson. The singer had the perfect voice for that song. I loved getting to sing with them.”

Heather Payne, a founding member of the popular Christian group Point of Grace, and a long-time supporter of Mercy, organized the event along with her husband Brian Payne, the Senior Pastor at Lakeview. The Paynes are friends of Mercy’s Founder and President, Nancy Alcorn.

“I loved Heather and all the Point of Grace girls from the first time I met them in 1992,” Alcorn said. She went on to explain how Heather and her fellow band members became passionate about Mercy Multiplied. “They made the decision to partner with Mercy and have me share about our cause in all of their concerts, and I traveled with them for years. Heather, Denise, Shelley, and Terry also made it their business to come to Mercy to spend time in the home with our staff and residents, sharing their music and encouraging the girls in their faith. Never in a million years did I dream that Heather would come back all these years later in 2025 with almost 100 kids from their youth group. We had such an amazing time!!!”

After the concert, Mercy residents and their guests enjoyed a catered taco bar provided by the church. The evening also featured karaoke, games, and fun for everyone.

“There is always something special when you break bread together and share a meal,” Alcorn said after the event. “It was so wonderful to see how our girls and staff connected with the male and female teenagers and their adult chaperones. This was a wonderful experience and I hope we can do it again!!”
