Philisity – 2014 Graduate
I did not get the attention I longed for growing up. The attention I was getting felt negative, and as a result, I started cutting and restricting food. I also struggled with pornography and talking to guys inappropriately on the Internet.
My biological parents didn’t take me to church when I was little, but my foster parents did.
I found out about Mercy through one of my teachers at church. I decided to apply because I knew I needed to get closer to God to get help. I was just struggling so much. I was a hopeless, depressed girl when I came into the program.
While at Mercy, I grew closer to God. I no longer self-harm and no longer have an eating disorder. God has shown me that He doesn’t want to harm me or force me to do anything. He has shown me how to love others as He has loved me. I also learned not to worry about others judging me, because everyone makes mistakes. I know now that God has so much for me!
After my time at Mercy, I plan to go to college and study veterinary medicine. I also hope to get married and have kids in the future.
To the Mercy donors, I really appreciate all that you have done for me and my sisters in Christ so we could find out more about God. Without your donations, none of us could have come here free-of-charge. Thank you so much!
