Mercy’s Founder and President served as the commencement speaker this month at two graduation ceremonies held at Choose Life Church in Hobbs, New Mexico. The church celebrated 20 graduates who completed a two-year, accredited Bible College curriculum at the Life Bible Institute. This marked the inaugural commencement for that program. Additionally, 133 graduates completed a ten-month Bible study curriculum at the DEEP Bible Training Center, located at Choose Life Church.

Nancy Alcorn expressed delight at being involved in the commencement weekend, calling Dean and Kathy Shropshire, pastors at Choose Life, “some of the best leaders I have ever met.” Alcorn has spoken at Choose Life Church on numerous occasions throughout their decades-long friendship.

The auditorium was filled with graduates, their families, friends, and supporters, and Alcorn’s commencement address centered on the topic “How to Walk by Faith.” Early in the message, she quoted Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. But in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.” Alcorn told the audience that this passage became a “life verse” for her during the season when God called her to start Mercy Multiplied. She encouraged the audience, “Lean into that verse and let God take you on the greatest journey you’ve ever been on.”

Alcorn also expressed her gratitude for Choose Life Church, which has supported Mercy Multiplied for more than 30 years as a monthly partner. In addition, the church regularly participates in Mercy’s Christmas offering, which provides holiday gifts for each young woman in Mercy’s Residential Counseling Program.
