Lori – 2015 Graduate
I had a rocky childhood that was full of lies and manipulation. I was verbally, physically and sexually abused. Ashamed to tell anyone about the sexual abuse, I held it inside until I was an adult. I entered an abusive marriage very young and had children right away. My husband and I divorced, but I was not able to deal with all of the abuse I’d experienced. After stuffing all of my emotions from the past, I hit rock bottom.
My aunt told me about Mercy after searching for a safe place for me to get help for the issues I was dealing with, and I chose to apply.
Before coming to Mercy I felt like God told me to give Him five months. So a major turning point for me was hitting five months at Mercy. I assumed I would be done. However, God showed me that He asked for five months to bring a change I could see. After that I stopped worrying about how long it would take for me to finish the program and find full healing.
While at Mercy God showed me that I can trust Him. He has shown me that my family truly does love me, and He has taught me how to value myself.
After graduating from Mercy I plan to find a job and get a stable place of my own. Later I want to go back to college to become a nurse.
To the Mercy donors and supporters, I would like to say thank you so much for all you do! I wouldn’t have this life of freedom without you.
