Before Mercy, I was trying to find ways to destroy my life so that I would have the guts to commit suicide. I thought that if I destroyed my life enough, I’d be “brave” enough to kill myself.
A family friend who knew about my condition suggested Mercy to us. My grandfather, who is a pastor, also recommended Mercy. I decided to apply because I wanted to escape the destructive path I was on.
When I arrived, I was angry, and I had trust issues. I would cuss out staff members and disrespect authority whenever they tried to discipline me. When I was put on probation, I had a heart to heart with myself. I knew I needed to decide if I was going to try and finish this program, or if I was going to go back to the life I was living. I felt a strong pull to stick it out from the Lord.
At Mercy, God has made me a new creation. I experienced freedom from some childhood situations that were affecting my entire life. I became free from marijuana addiction and self-harm. I learned my full identity in Christ and how I am meant to live in this world.
After Mercy, I am going to attend college to get my bachelor’s degree in secondary education.
To all the donors, every penny donated is loved and appreciated. Every single dollar is used to glorify the Lord and to make an impact on the residents. I will never forget your generosity!
