Katie grew up in a loving family that went to church every Sunday. She knew about God but never had that personal relationship with Him. In the third grade, she was molested at a sleepover at her friend’s house. That was when shame, guilt, fear, and confusion entered her life. When Katie was 15, she was raped. This affected her relationships at home tremendously. She moved out of her her parent’s house and move in with a guy that was dealing drugs. Being in this environment was the start of a two-year drug addiction. All the dreams and goals she once had were gone and she lost all hope. Feeling hopeless, she started researching programs and was introduced to Mercy.
When she came to Mercy, she was very quiet and reserved but soon realized she needed to open up and make friends and talk to her counselor in order to receive healing. God restored the hopes and dreams Katie had as a little girl and He also showed her a new passion and direction for her life. No matter where she goes, she knows God is with her.
