Hannah and Jocelyn grew up in a broken home. After their parents separated, they moved into their mom’s house. With many men coming through the home, they were both exposed to drug addicts and even child molesters. After these exposures, the sisters moved into their dad and stepmom’s home. It was also very unhealthy and divisive.
Hannah was bullied throughout middle school and developed bulimia. She started drinking so often that she eventually became addicted. These habits continued until she got pregnant, but she lost the baby due to her drinking habits. At that point, Hannah was in a very dark place and became suicidal. After an overdose, she was given two options, go to juvie or get help. Hannah walked through the doors of Mercy, broken and hurting, but she knew she had to be there. She learned that God doesn’t intend for us to go through horrible things, but He can take those situations and make something so amazing out of it. She began to see that who she was in God’s eyes and how much He valued her.
When Jocelyn was just 13, she tried her first line of cocaine. This led to many abusive relationships and a pregnancy at the age of 15. Jocelyn had an abortion and her life continued to spiral out of control. She began to fall deeper into drug and alcohol addiction. She needed more money for her habits, so she picked up a third job as a stripper. After waking up on the side of the road confused, lost, and all her money stolen, Jocelyn decided to get help. Seeing her sister graduate from Mercy and the transformation it brought to her life, Jocelyn wanted that healing for herself. Jocelyn experienced breakthrough after breakthrough while at Mercy. She now understands the truth and what God says about her.
