Hannah – 2014 Graduate
I grew up in a wonderful home with amazing Christian parents. I developed anxiety and depression when I was 11 years old and struggled with it for the next 13 years. Because of my anxiety, I wore a mask and I would also mask my anxiety with anything and everything, especially drugs. My drugs of choice were marijuana and pills.
I found out about Mercy through someone at my church. I started the application process twice and backed out both times. The third time working on my application, I was in a place where I knew I had to go. The application process was tedious but worth it. I was terrified when I got here just because I was totally out of my comfort zone. It took me a while to adjust, but when I did it was great!
I could tell things were turning around for me when my anxiety was a lot lower and I didn’t need medication as much. I’ve also become much closer to God! He is more amazing than I could have ever imagined! I never thought in a million years I would be free from my anxiety and addictions. I know it’s only through God that I am free now and completely healed!
After Mercy, I plan on getting my first “big girl” job and eventually going to college to become a veterinarian technician. I would love to get married and have a family in the future! I would also love to share my story and be able to help any girl that has been in my shoes. I want to give others hope that there is a reason and a purpose for living.
I don’t even know where to start, other than by saying I will always be eternally grateful for this program and for everyone who helped me through my journey. I wouldn’t have made it if it weren’t for everyone who works here and all of the donors! THANK YOU!
