“Designed Sisterhood” Honors Nancy Alcorn, Mercy Multiplied
February 15, 2018
As a surprise part of “Designed Sisterhood Night” on January 26, 2018, Pastor Debbie Lindell of James River Church presented Nancy Alcorn, Mercy Multiplied’s Founder and President, a special gift of $35,000 in honor of Mercy’s 35th Anniversary.
Since 2006 when they met at a ministry conference in England, Debbie and Nancy have been friends and supported and celebrated one another in ministry. Nancy has been a frequent participant and guest speaker at “Designed for Life,” a national women’s conference Debbie founded and directs under the umbrella of Designed Sisterhood, the women’s ministry component of James River Church. Additionally, as part of their stay in the Mercy program, Mercy residents have attended and experienced life-changing impact at the DFL Conference.
At the recent “Designed Sisterhood Night,” Debbie invited Nancy to the platform for a “no question off-limits” conversation. In this short but dynamic session, they shared some funny friendship moments and also challenged the audience with thought-provoking biblical insight. Then, a video depicting the 35-year history of Mercy was shown, followed by Debbie presenting the unknowing Nancy with a $35,000 check for Mercy Multiplied.
“We want to honor you tonight and bless you with a gift,” said Debbie. She explained the gift was generated from the audience’s generosity to give to Project 12, a charitable foundation of Designed Sisterhood focused on raising awareness and resources for ministries serving women and girls. Mercy Multiplied was a featured Project 12 ministry last November.
“All the time when we give, we pray God multiplies it to match the need,” said Debbie. “So, I’m praying that when she cashes this check, that dollars flood in like it’s a seed that’s planted in the ground that bears much, much fruit.”
“I am blown away,” said Nancy as she wiped tears and graciously received the Designed Sisterhood gift.
Debbie concluded the presentation by saying, “Tonight we honor her. She is such an amazing woman of faith, and history will bear out that she has made a huge dent for the Kingdom in this world.” Debbie asked the audience to pray and believe that God will supply every financial and personnel need and give Nancy clarity and direction for the next 35 years so that Mercy Multiplied will continue to expand to reach even more young women with the healing of Christ.
