I learned about the Keys to Freedom study 4 years ago. Because of the transformation of so many lives in Mercy’s residential care, I felt it would have impact in changing the lives of women in my church as well. In these four years I have seen so many examples of lives changed: forgiveness of abusers and other hurts, seeing themselves as precious daughters, incorporating disciplines of prayer, scripture reading, asking God questions and expecting to hear from Him.
Compared to other studies I have led, there has been more commitment and engagement in completing the work, attending our group meetings, sharing, and experiencing a closer relationship with God as women go through Keys to Freedom. This has resulted in true and lasting change for most who complete the study.
To someone considering leading Keys to Freedom I would say this: Your obedience will lead to your own deeper relationship with God AND you will have the great privilege of walking alongside others as they grow. After leading seven Keys to Freedom groups, I am always in awe of how God seems to hand select those who are in each group, and the way they interact with and bless one another.
