As a child, I was neglected, abandoned, and sexually abused. I couldn’t cope with my pain, so I sought relief in self-harm. But hurting myself only made me more confused, and I was soon consumed by my depression.

A friend of mine had gone to Mercy and been completely transformed. When she graduated, she told me about the program and convinced me to apply. I knew that I needed to change my life, but I couldn’t do it on my own. My past attempts had failed, so I came to Mercy despite my fears.

At first, I was very withdrawn and emotionally distant, but God slowly tore down my walls. While at Mercy, He restored my joy and hope. He taught me that I have a purpose and a future. I found comfort knowing God had walked beside me through all my struggles and He would continue to guide me for the rest of my life.

After graduating from Mercy, I hope to become a nanny and go to college. Someday, I’d love to travel and own my own business. In everything I do, God will lead. Thank you, Mercy, for loving me and every other girl who walks through your doors. You saved my life and set me on the path to freedom.
