Go Back to Lives Transformed

Darla – 2014 Graduate

DarlaI was raised in church, but at a young age, I got caught up in the comparison game. My self-esteem and self-image plummeted as a result. In addition to this, I was sexually, verbally, mentally and physically abused. I developed an eating disorder in an attempt to control something in my life, but that only caused me more pain.

My mom first told me about Mercy when I was home on break from school. I knew I needed help, and I couldn’t afford anything else. Mercy’s reputation and their focus on God also appealed to me.

The biggest turning point for me during my time at Mercy was when I began to understand God’s unconditional love and forgiveness.  While at Mercy, God taught me to receive love. I learned that I can truly trust Him. I now know that I have worth and am not defined by my past! I no longer feel the need to wear a mask in order to be accepted.

After graduation, I plan to move back home and enjoy time with my family before returning to ministry school. After that, I will allow God to direct my steps.

Mercy donors, I can’t say thank you enough for your obedience to Christ. My life has truly been changed!
