Corrin – 2017 Graduate
I’m not sure when I began struggling with an eating disorder. I’ve had an unhealthy relationship with food from a very young age. My parents divorced when I was eight. Around the same time, other kids at school began picking on me about my weight. I eventually became very depressed and began self-harming. I made a plan to take my own life, and on the day I decided to act on it, my parents found out before I was able to. I was admitted to a hospital for eight days.
I was still very depressed and suicidal when I found out about Mercy. I heard four Mercy graduates’ testimonies in the Francesca Battistelli music video, He Knows My Name. I decided to apply to Mercy because I didn’t really know what else to do. When I entered the program, I was a mess. I was so depressed I didn’t even want to take care of myself.
Through the Mercy program, God taught me to be able to trust in Him as my father. He has shown me how He loves differently than my earthly father and has taken my trust to a new level. A major turning point for my healing and hope for the future came through a guest speaker at the Mercy home who spoke purpose and vision into my life.
After graduating from Mercy, I plan to finish high school. I want to go to college and pursue a career in music.
I want to give a special thanks to all the Mercy supporters. Thank you so much for everything you do for us. It is greatly appreciated.
