I was a Christian when I grew up, but I had walked away from God and was living in a lot of sin. I was weighed down by depression, anxiety and other destructive behaviors. I was also hurting from past abuse and sexual assault.

I found out about Mercy from a past graduate who attended my church. I decided to apply because I knew God wanted to heal me and restore my relationship with Him. When I arrived, I was ready for change in my life. A turning point happened for me when I recommitted my life to Jesus Christ at Mercy and asked God to come in and heal past hurts and abuse. God also showed me that he had not abandoned me but had pursued me while I was running from him and he had protected my life. God showed me his love in a new way. He took away my shame and gave me joy instead. He showed me his unconditional love though the staff.

After I graduate I will continue freelance writing for a small newspaper at home and will look for another part time job. I hope to get my ESL certificate to teach adult English language learners. I’d also love to do missions work some day and help other young women.

To all of the donors and supporters of Mercy, thank you so so much for making it possible for me to step away from my busy life to get the healing I needed. I feel equipped to go back home now and contribute to my family, church and community. I would not be where I am today if it was not for you. May God bless you abundantly!
