Cheyenne – 2014 Graduate
My biological father committed suicide when I was little. Later, I was made fun of in school for being overweight, so I became very insecure and started restricting food and throwing up. I was hiding everything and lying to my family. I tried finding my self-worth in guys and ended up moving out of my house at 16. That’s when my drug use started. By the time I was 23, I had tried every drug—heroin and crack had become my drugs of choice. I started prostituting and was arrested for drug possession.
My mom met Nancy Alcorn through her work, and told me about the program. I applied a few weeks later. When I came to Mercy, I felt very shameful and insecure.
Things really changed when I invited the Lord into my life. I gave Him my heart and started surrendering everything to Him. At Mercy, God repaired all of my brokenness and taught me to love myself. He taught me to be patient as He worked, and He also brought my family together again.
If it weren’t for Mercy, I would be dead right now. I have come to know the Lord because of this program, and my life truly has been transformed forever.
