Go Back to Lives Transformed

Breeana – 2016 Graduate

BreeanaI grew up in a non-Christian household, and my biological father was never in the picture. I became sexually active at 15 and also began using drugs. Around that time I entered into an abusive relationship that ended after three years. After dropping out of school and becoming promiscuous with men and women, I began selling my body at 18 to support my growing drug habit. I began using heroin and crack through IV use and went in and out of treatment centers. In November of 2015, I went into a new treatment program that introduced me to Jesus for the first time. I gave my life to Him and applied to Mercy soon after.

I found out about Mercy when the recovery minister at my church suggested I seek residential care and introduced me to a few faith programs. Mercy was on the list, and I knew I needed a sturdy foundation with Christ if I wanted to continue with my sobriety. When I first arrived to the program I tried to fit in with everyone and questioned if the staff was fake in their love and kindness towards me because it was so foreign to me.A major turning point during my stay at Mercy was walking through forgiveness. I was able to forgive myself, for all my past actions, and others, for the abuse they put me through.

God has redeemed me through my time at Mercy! He has set me free from the bondage that I was in. He has shown Himself to me in such incredible ways and given me so much knowledge. I want to spread His love everywhere I go now!

After graduating from Mercy, I want to go to college. I want to study psychology and eventually become a Christian counselor. I would really like to go into ministry at some point in my life.

To all the Mercy donors, you have saved my life. I have no idea where I would be without Mercy. Having a place to stay and learn about the love of Christ has changed my life forever. I am so blessed to be able to have this foundation before starting my life over. Thank you so much.
