Liz – 2016 Graduate

Liz 3.22.16My birth mom was abusive and neglected me. I was molested by one of my birth mom’s boyfriends when I was very young. I also experienced the loss of my baby sister and birth mom all before I was five years old. Two years later I was adopted into a loving family. When I was in 10th grade, my adoptive parents temporarily separated, and I started doing drugs and drinking.

I found out about Mercy through my dad, whose job has brought him into contact with the program. My parents suggested I apply to the program, and deep down I knew I needed help.

I saw a major turning point at Mercy when I decided to start taking my healing seriously. I decided to never smoke another cigarette. And I began taking steps for a better relationship with my mom once I graduated from Mercy.

While at Mercy God walked me through hard things from my past and was there while I grieved the little girl inside of me that experienced so much. God has given me joy and a desire to be the person He created me to be. I know what love is, and what healthy relationships look like. I know that God has been with me since before I was even born. I am His daughter, and I am an heir to His throne. I have control of my emotions, and the Holy Spirit will give me the fruits of the spirit. He is with me always, and I know He will guide my steps after Mercy.

After graduating from Mercy I plan to work at Sonic, as a skating carhop of course! I’m excited to study at a great university and develop a well-rounded life.

To all the donors, thank you for investing in something that works. You are the people who make Mercy possible everyday, and I would not be alive if you didn’t support this ministry. Mercy was my lifeline.
