“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV)

Have you ever felt stuck in an unwanted season?

Maybe you’re living in a place that feels dry and desolate, and your heart is quietly asking God, where are you in this? Will this ever change? You may even think, this is not how I envisioned life turning out.

If you have lived long enough, you have certainly found yourself in a season like this. One that feels confusing, heavy, and seemingly unending. A season where you wonder if anything will ever shift.

But Isaiah 43:19 speaks straight into those moments, reminding us that God is not absent in the wilderness. He is present and He is purposeful.

Behold: Pay Attention

This passage of scripture begins with the word “Behold.” This is an instruction which means to pay attention. God is alerting us that something is happening even if we cannot see it.

He says, “I will do a new thing.” God promises to bring newness into our lives, but often we are so stuck in old patterns that we miss what He is trying to accomplish in us. We struggle to let go of what once was. We keep rehearsing hurt. We ruminate over dreams that feel as if they have died

Sometimes our pain becomes familiar, and we unintentionally cling to it, not because it is comfortable but because it is what we know.

It’s important to remember that God never promised we wouldn’t go through hard experiences. He never said we wouldn’t have wilderness seasons. He never said life would never feel dry. He never promised that we would always understand His ways.

But He did promise this: He will make a way.

Even when you cannot see the path, a way is being made. Even when the season feels unfair, He is working on your behalf. Even when you’re wondering if you’ve done something wrong, God still forgives. He doesn’t abandon His children in hard times. He leads them through it.

We serve a God who is not only able to redeem but also resurrect. Breakthroughs do not always start with obvious signs. They often begin as seeds. The dreams and purposes you had for your life that you felt died were not wasted. They were not lost. They were merely planted.

Nothing is wasted or lost when it is given over to God. Not your hurt. Not your pain. Not your disappointment. Not even the parts of your story you wish you could rewrite. God will use it all.

If you have found yourself in a hard place, be reminded:

Your waiting is growing you. Time is not lost. You are not being punished. You are not disqualified. You are not overlooked. God has never left you.
“Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29 NKJV)

God is bringing breakthrough even if you can’t see it or feel it or comprehend how it could possibly happen. So, pay attention. Don’t miss the new thing simply because it doesn’t look like the old thing.
