“Turn Awareness into Action” is the national theme for Mental Health Awareness Month this May, and supporters of Mercy Multiplied are encouraged to take action by registering for upcoming Mercy events and engaging with new resources.
MercyTalk podcast episodes scheduled for release in May include 402 | Listen First to Love Better: A Conversation about Mental Health. This episode features a conversation with Leslie Lamb, the Assistant Counseling Director at Mercy’s Center for Wellness and Counseling in Monroe, Louisiana.
“MercyTalk is our most accessible resource, and new episodes drop every other week,” according to Erin Gentry, Mercy’s Interim Senior Director of Outreach Services. Gentry states that listening to a podcast episode and sharing it with someone who could benefit from it is an excellent way to observe Mental Health Awareness Month. “The podcast tackles various issues related to mental health and provides listeners with practical principles for growing in their mental, emotional, and spiritual health.” MercyTalk is available through outlets like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and the Mercy website.
Mercy supporters can register now for a June 1-7 event that promotes mental, emotional, and spiritual health for themselves and others. Walk for Freedom: Pray with Purpose is a seven-day step challenge designed to raise awareness and support for Mercy Multiplied. Participants who register by May 1 will receive their exclusive event T-shirt before the start date.
Another way Mercy supporters can observe Mental Health Awareness Month is by accessing resources like the Keys to Freedom Teaching Series, which is available free of charge through Mercy’s web store and Right Now Media. Based on the celebrated discipleship study released in 2017, this video teaching series offers short lessons that address significant issues impacting mental, emotional, and spiritual health, and includes questions for reflection or discussion.
Mental Health Awareness Month is observed each May in the United States. Established in 1949 by the National Association for Mental Health, now known as Mental Health America, the primary goals of this observance are to increase public awareness of mental health and wellness, reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness, and promote recovery.
Mercy Multiplied offers programs to assist people struggling with life-controlling issues and situations in stopping destructive cycles and experiencing true life transformation. Mercy also provides resources for those who seek to help individuals who are struggling, as well as for anyone who wishes to grow in mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Mercy’s onsite and online programs and resources are biblically based and free of charge, including the six-to-nine-month Residential Counseling Program for women ages 13-32, the Outpatient Counseling Program, and the Keys to Freedom Retreat. Mercy Multiplied is a fully donor-supported ministry.
