Registration is now open for Mercy Multiplied’s new step challenge event, Walk for Freedom: Pray with Purpose, which will take place June 1-7, 2025. Every participant will receive an exclusive Walk for Freedom T-shirt, but online registration must be completed by May 1 to receive a shirt before the event begins.
Walk for Freedom offers an opportunity to engage in seven days of prayer for the ministry at Mercy Multiplied. During this time, participants will receive daily encouragement in the form of prayer prompts sent via email, along with devotional readings drawn from Mercy’s Keys to Freedom discipleship study. The suggested daily walking goal is 7,000 steps.
“We think many people will enjoy hitting their step goal throughout the week, and some may want to choose one day to do their steps all at once as a 5K run or walk,” explained Karen Klarich, Mercy’s staff team leader for the Walk for Freedom event. “That could be an individual action, something you do with friends and family, or a larger community event, like the Run for Mercy 5K and Family Walk of years past!”
The Run for Mercy 5K transitioned to a virtual event in 2020 and has seen widespread participation from across the country in recent years. Mercy staff expects even greater involvement in the Walk for Freedom step challenge event.
“This is really like Run for Mercy PLUS,” said Lauren Hobar, Senior Director of Development and Engagement Strategy. “There are so many ways people can participate in Walk for Freedom! They can pray for Mercy each day, engage in the step challenge, and even set up a personal fundraising page to support the mission of Mercy. I am beyond excited to see what God will do through this event as we Walk for Freedom together!”
Klarich hopes people will register early for the event. “You can register now to receive a T-shirt and participant package with plenty of time to prepare for the week,” she shared. “That way you can plan your walks, set goals for your times with the Lord, set up your fundraising page, and invite others to join you!”
