My life before Mercy was not ideal. I went through tribulations as a teenager which led to unhealthy habits. I used drugs to numb pain caused by trauma. God was someone I wanted to have nothing to do with because religion was heavily pushed onto me when I was younger.
I came to a point in my life where I sabotaged any situation I had for success and ruined all relationships I built with family and friends. Mercy was proposed to me by a family friend, and I decided to apply to get everyone off my back. I was accepted shortly after, and I went into the program with a bad attitude. I did not believe in God, and I was only doing the program for my family.
After the first couple of days at Mercy, I experienced a true connection with God. I immediately changed my thinking and fully immersed myself in the program. During my time at Mercy, I learned so much about God and how He could heal and help me. He taught me so much about myself that I never knew and showed me that it is okay to forgive myself for the mistakes I made. He showed me I could turn my life around for the better.
After Mercy, I will start working as a substitute teacher. Although I have a degree in finance, teaching has always been an interest of mine. I will continue to live in God’s Word. I will begin to rebuild all the relationships I tainted in the past. I am delivered from my shame and guilt. I will never be the same person who walked through the doors of Mercy so long ago. I am so excited to begin my new life!
We would have nothing without the Mercy donors! You keep the doors of Mercy open and have changed the lives of many girls with your generosity. Thank you!
