This Mental Health Awareness month we want to remind you of the powerful resource of scripture and its healing effect on your mental, emotional, and spiritual health. As Christians, we know that God is both our defender and our comforter. This is so encouraging when it comes to all of our struggles!
Meditate on these scriptures in times of anxiety and know that God sees you and empathizes with you. Above all, our hope lies in God’s loving power and the knowledge that one day there will be no more tears and no more brokenness. So declare these 10 truths of scripture over yourself and allow yourself to believe them!
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” John 14:1
“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” Psalm 94:19
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34
“Say to those with fearful hearts, ‘Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.’” Isaiah 35:4
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:16
“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Psalm 16:8
God sits with us in our pain, speaks softly to our hearts in times of fear, and fights for us when we feel like we’re under attack. Allow yourself to believe these truths and trust in God’s love for you.
