Before Mercy, I was sexually abused from ages 5 to 9 and didn’t have any kind of father figure in my life. Throughout my school years I was bullied and by age 15 I began having suicidal thoughts and falling into deep depressions. I started having sexual relationships that caused me to hate myself and how I was living which lead me to a bad relationship where I was raped. I didn’t want to live a life that I felt was dead. I thought my life was over, I was ready to give up until I found Mercy.
When I first came to Mercy, I was afraid, but every girl was so kind to me and welcomed me in. At Mercy, God taught me how to love myself and how to have healthy relationships. He showed me that I am stronger than the depression and suicidal thoughts I was having before. God restored my emotions and I am now able to connect with people so much better. Applying to Mercy was the best choice I have ever made. It was a once in a lifetime chance and it truly changed my life for the better.
After graduation, I plan to work as a teacher’s aide and then go to college and get a degree in computer science!
