Go Back to Lives Transformed

Engelien – 2017 Graduate

Engelien - 2017 Mercy GraduateMy family life was rough from the start. I did not grow up in a Christian household. When I was ten years old, I was placed into foster care. At age 13, I was adopted into a new family. I struggled to feel loved. I wanted so badly to be loved by my biological father. I began to look for love in all the wrong places. I would look on the internet, and even meet up with complete strangers, only to be hurt again and again. When I was 19 years old, I attempted to take my own life. God saved me from that attempt.

I found out about Mercy Multiplied from my aunt who lives in the Nashville area. She went to a luncheon and met someone who worked at Mercy and gave the information to my parents and me. When I entered the home, I was welcomed by all the girls.

A turning point in my Mercy journey was when we residents attended a conference. I really felt God’s love for me on a personal level. Another time was attending an event at Word of Life Center. I experienced the presence of the Holy Spirit for the very first time, and I felt such a relief about my burdens being lifted from me.

I have learned to accept the love of God in my personal life. Also, I learned that renewing my mind isn’t just a one-time thing; it’s a daily process. You can either let God control your mind, or you can let the enemy have dominion over your mind.

After Mercy, I plan on getting a job and going to school for social work. After college, I hope to work with at-risk teens to tell them how they can receive the same healing I have received.

I want to say thank you, to all the Mercy donors, for supporting such an amazing ministry. It has given me a new sense of life and love. I cannot wait to share my testimony with others and show them how changed I am.
