To kick off Mercy’s 40th Anniversary, we wanted to share with you 40 facts about Mercy Multiplied!
From one residential home to a global ministry, God has blessed Mercy so much over the last four decades! We have seen Christ move in powerful and transformative ways in the lives of those we serve and within our ministry. It is truly remarkable to look at where Mercy started in 1983 and see all of the growth He has brought us to where we are today!
- Mercy was founded in 1983 by Founder and President, Nancy Alcorn.
- Mercy’s Residential Program is voluntary, biblically-based, and lasts from 6-9 months.
- Mercy’s Residential and Outpatient Programs are free-of-charge.
- As an organization, Mercy tithes 10% of what we receive as a ministry to other ministries and organizations that are changing lives through the Gospel.
- Mercy will never accept money that would restrict our freedom to share the full Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Mercy’s first home opened in West Monroe, LA and helped women ages 13-28.
- In 1985 Mercy took in its first pregnant resident and in 1986 had its first adoption.
- The ribbon cutting ceremony at the newly built Nashville home was held in 1995 and the home opened its doors to residents in early 1996.
- In 2001, our corporate offices in Nashville opened.
- In 2005 Mercy’s St. Louis home opened its doors.
- Our Sacramento home opened its doors in 2009 – the same year that Mercy UK opened its residential home.
- In 2010, Mercy Canada opened their residential facility.
- Mercy hosts an annual 5K – our Virtual Run for Mercy 5K and Family Walk.
- In 2015 Mercy changed its name to Mercy Multiplied and created our Outreach Services branch. Mercy hosted it’s first MPower Workshop and launched its MercyTalk podcast the same year.
- Our Keys to Freedom study launched in 2017.
- Over 65,000 copies of Keys to Freedom have been distributed worldwide.
- In 2019, our Mercy Beyond Affiliate was established to expand Outreach Services internationally. Mercy Isle of Man was established in 2020 and Mercy Germany, Faroe Islands, and Denmark were established in 2021.
- In 2019 we expanded the age range of our Residential program from 13-28 to 13-32.
- During the height of the COVID pandemic in 2020, Mercy’s Monroe home transitioned to our very fist Outpatient Program.
- Mercy hired its very first male counselor in 2021 at our Outpatient Program, expanding the program to help men and women.
- In 2022, our second Outpatient Program opened in St Louis.
- Our “Keys to Freedom” study is available in 5 different languages: English, Spanish, German, Swedish, and Danish!
- Individuals or groups are going through Keys to Freedom in 26 different countries.
- Mercy’s MPower Workshops have trained and equipped over 5,000 people internationally.
- Point of Grace’s song “House that Mercy Built” is about Mercy Multiplied. In the early 90s, Founder and President, Nancy Alcorn traveled the country sharing about Mercy at Point Of Grace concerts. To this day, we still have supporters tell us they first heard about Mercy at a Point of Grace concert!
- In 2014 Francesca Batistelli records video for He Knows My Name, highlighting Mercy graduates to help spread the word about the ministry. Thousands of people have learned about Mercy through this video!
- 93% of graduates who responded to an independent survey recommended Mercy Multiplied, and said their life was transformed through the program.
- Mercy Multiplied consistently exceeds industry standards for financial accountability, fundraising, and board governance, as shown by its membership in ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability).
- Mercy Multiplied has received GuideStar’s top-ranking Platinum Seal of Transparency.
- Mercy’s Nashville home is the only location that is licensed to accept minors.
- Mercy residents have a full daily schedule. Included in their schedule, residents receive weekly individual and group therapy through a Christian-based counseling model developed by Mercy Multiplied called Choices that Bring Change (CBC).
- If an Applicant is between the ages of 13 and 17 and has not graduated from high school or does not have her high school equivalency (HSE) diploma/certificate, then she is required to participate in a school option at Mercy. School options includes our online home-schooling program for those ages 13-17 or pursuing the GED/HiSET/TASC for those age 17 and older.
- If an Applicant is over 17 and has not graduated from high school, she has the opportunity to work toward her high school equivalency (HSE) diploma/certificate.
- Mercy Multiplied’s multi-dimensional program is designed to support the whole person: spirit, soul, and body. We provide individual and group counseling, menus and meal plans approved by a Registered Dietician, and Life Skill classes to prepare residents for life after Mercy.
- Mercy Multiplied is a licensed child-placing agency with the State of Tennessee. If a pregnant resident chooses to place her child for adoption, she will work with Adoption Staff in making her adoption plan.
- Mercy has a Freedom Advocacy Network where members champion Mercy Multiplied’s vision to provide opportunities for all to experience God’s unconditional love, forgiveness, and life-transforming power. They utilize Mercy’s resources and trainings to advocate for freedom in their communities.
- Mercy posts a bi-weekly blog on our website!
- Mercy Multiplied releases a yearly magazine called Multiply! This magazine highlights the events and special moments from the previous year.
- Mercy residents have the opportunity to participate in our annual Virtual Run for Mercy 5K and Family Walk!
- Our MercyTalk Podcast has listeners from 19 different countries!
We are so grateful for the thousands of supporters, who have helped spread the word about Mercy. From recording artists to international speakers sharing their platforms, we are blessed beyond measure and grateful for the opportunity to help all find freedom in Christ! Each year, we look forward to what God has in store for Mercy, and without fail He blows us away with His faithfulness. Who knows where He will take us the next 40 years!
