Carrying Gratitude

As we launch into November and look toward celebrating Thanksgiving, it seems fitting that we spend some time this month discussing gratitude and what it looks like to carry this fully in our lives. Gratitude is a powerful thing that positions us to see things from a different perspective – especially the difficult things that we may be facing in our lives or the lives of those who we are helping. Carrying gratitude well allows us to have a right perspective – a God perspective – that can then be given away to others.

Gratitude defined is a feeling of appreciation or thanks. It’s interesting that gratitude is defined as a feeling. Our feelings provide a compass for our actions (good or bad!) and are triggered by our thoughts. So we can choose to think grateful thoughts, which will create grateful feelings and perhaps even lead to actions of gratitude towards ourselves, God and others!

This week we encourage you to find one thing that you are genuinely grateful for. Take some time to reflect on that thing and watch to see what feelings and actions follow.

Psalm 100:4-5: “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.”
