The holiday season can be a time of joy, celebration, peace, and fellowship with family and friends. Yet, the holidays can also be a busy, stressful, heavy, and complicated season as well. The to-do lists seem to be never ending, the expenses seem to constantly increase with the pressure of gift-giving, and for some it can be a season of loss for those who have been grieving loved ones.
But there is good news! As believers we have eternal hope. Hope that is not a human hope but a supernatural one coming from God. We are reminded of the endless hope God gives to us and the peace that only comes from Him in His word. It is important to stay rooted in God’s word and lean on Him for strength during the holiday season no matter what it may look like for you. Here are ten Bible verses to help you respond when things get stressful, igniting your hope this holiday season.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has said, I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” Hebrews 13:5
“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” Hebrews 10:23
“Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary.” Isaiah 40: 28“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7
“But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.” Romans 8:25
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12
“May he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him.” Hebrews 13:21
“The Lord delights in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love.” Psalm 147:11
“You will be rewarded for this; your hope will not be disappointed.” Proverbs 23: 18
It is not by our might or power but by Gods spirit, that leads us to the everlasting hope that we can cling to in moments of hopelessness or heaviness. God is our refuge and hope in this season and in all seasons.
