A little bit of rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of our runners and volunteers this past Saturday as over 450 race participants lined up to run with a purpose for Mercy Multiplied. This year’s California Run for Mercy 5K raised over $64,000!

The morning was filled with all kinds of activities, from the dentists at Children’s Choice Pediatrics in Roseville entertaining the crowd with “come on and brush with me”, to the Chick-fil-A cow posing for photos, and music to keep the runners going, provided by K-Love and AIR1 radio stations.

2019 California Run for Mercy 5K starting line

As runners made their way down the course, they were welcomed with water and protein bars provided by Thrivent Financial, Chick-fil-A, AIR1, and Kaia Fit Granite Bay. At the finish line, runners could choose from an array of fruit provided by Lead Point Hill Walmart.

Mercy Multiplied’s Community Relations and Development Manager, Kerri Naber, said, It has been an incredible joy to see Run For Mercy grow year after year. What I love the most is the same smiling faces that come out to support our mercy residents every year, rain or shine. Thank you to you all. The runners, walkers, sponsors, volunteers and the committee! You truly are a shining example of Gods multiplication!

This year’s race winner was eight-year-old Caden Mitchell, who ran with his dad, Justin, and his younger brother. Bridgeway Christian Church had the largest team, and Destiny Christian Church took home the prize for highest fundraising team! Our highest fundraisers were Micah Berge, Sara Carracci, and Jenni Winters.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the help of ALL our sponsors, and special thanks to San Francisco Bay Gourmet Coffee, Destiny Community Center, Buzz Oates Charitable Foundation, K-LOVE Radio, Massage Heights, Wagner Plumbing, and Bayside of Citrus Heights.  All of our signage was generously donated by Sign Masters.

There’s still time to sign up for one of our other 5K races. If you don’t live in one of the cities, you can still sign up to fundraise and be a virtual runner. When you Run for Mercy, you support Mercy’s free-of-charge Christian residential program that provides hope and life transformation for young women facing difficult life circumstances.
