Atlanta Hosts Mercy Brunch

Last Saturday morning, guests from the greater Atlanta area came together for a Mercy in the Community Brunch hosted by Dr. Shep Dunlevie at The Piedmont Driving Club. Thirty-two people attended the special event to celebrate hope and healing in the lives of young women.

“Atlanta and our surrounding community is a strong base of support for this transformational ministry,” said Dunlevie. He expressed his excitement “for the opportunity to meet others who support Mercy, get an update on the important work they are doing, and hear from a couple of Mercy graduates.”

Dunlevie was first introduced to Mercy Multiplied when he was in college. He was so moved by the organization, he began to give to Mercy in 1994.  His sister Katherine and parents, Steven and Taffy, also attended the brunch.

Mercy graduates Deanna and Hope generously volunteered to work the registration table and greeted guests as they arrived.

Whitney, a 2015 graduate from the Nashville Mercy home, shared her testimony during the brunch program. Before Mercy, Whitney struggled to find her identity and battled deep depression. “At Mercy, I found Jesus. And when I found Jesus, I found myself. God revealed the real me when I found my identity in Him,” Whitney said. “I learned that I am a child of God and He loves me with all my imperfections. I live now with astounding joy, courage, and hope that I never thought was possible for me.”

Nancy Earhart also spoke at the brunch. A mother of a 2011 Nashville Mercy graduate, Nancy offered a parent’s perspective about the Mercy program and how it helped her daughter overcome past struggles with life-controlling issues.

“She was transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit and the truth and love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This transformation took place while she stayed in a beautiful, light-filled, and free of charge facility!” Nancy said. “We’re so grateful to God and the staff of Mercy Multiplied for providing these places of healing and restoration.”

The community was excited to get an update on Mercy and to learn about Mercy’s most recent Outreach initiatives.

“Atlanta is an important city to Mercy Multiplied. Not only do we have lots of faithful donors, but we also have several graduates from the greater metro area,” said Rachel Bedenbaugh, Executive Director of Development at Mercy Multiplied. “It was a pleasure to fellowship and update our key constituents on ways they can educate, equip, and bring Mercy to their communities.”
