Go Back to Lives Transformed

Sophia – 2017 Graduate

Sophia | 2017 Mercy GradI was born in Liberia. Growing up, I lived in a lot of fear of my birth mother, who was very strict, and any authority figure in general. Throughout my childhood, I was sexual abused. In middle school, I was a very angry child. As I grew older, I became withdrawn from life. I shut down all my emotions and lived in denial of my past. I was adopted when I was eleven, but I was so numb towards life. One day I was an only child, and the next I was one of thirteen kids.

I learned about Mercy Multiplied years ago. A family member went through the Mercy program. I knew I needed a change in life, and God directed me to Mercy.

A huge turning point for me at Mercy was accepting who I was in Christ and letting go of all the shame and guilt that I carried.

While at Mercy, God restored my heart and freed me from fear, shame, and all the condemnation I lived in. I’ve learned that my past doesn’t define my future.

After Mercy, I plan to move back home and start working so I can save money and travel. I would also like to go on mission trips and share God’s love with other people.

I am so thankful to Nancy Alcorn for choosing to live and walk in obedience to God. I will be forever grateful for the Mercy supporters and for all the love I was shown at Mercy.
