Go Back to Lives Transformed

Andrea – 2014 Graduate

AndreaGrowing up, image was always a main focus. I was bullied in grade school, and I fell into depression. I hated myself so much that I couldn’t stand who I was. I began to restrict food and by my junior year in high school, I had a full-blown eating disorder. I was also beginning to abuse drugs and alcohol. I would have done anything not to feel like myself because I hated myself.

After trying to commit suicide, my counselor suggested I apply to Mercy, stressing that I needed a residential program.

At Mercy, I learned that Jesus died for me. I learned that He saved me and that He loves me. I grew up in a religious school where I learned about Jesus, but I was never told I could have an intimate relationship with Him.

God has healed me from my eating disorder behavior, drug addictions and depression. He has lavished me with His love, grace, mercy, joy and peace. He has taught me and shown me who I am in Christ, and He has given me hope to do all that I can do for Him on earth. I’m excited for my next steps—I plan to go to an accredited Bible school and pursue a counseling degree.

If it weren’t for Mercy, I don’t know where I’d be. To Nancy and all the donors, by obeying God you’ve saved my life!
