Goals vs. Resolutions

Happy New Year and welcome to 2017!

We hope you had a wonderful holiday season with family and friends and are looking forward to the new year ahead!

At this time of year there is a lot of talk about ‘New Year Resolutions’ and the changes we desire to make in our lives at the start of a new year. Our encouragement with this week’s blog is to challenge you to set some GOALS for the year ahead instead of resolutions.

What’s the difference? Resolutions typically only last for a short time and do not have the additional thought and foresight attached to them to allow them to live past January 31st! In fact, studies show that over half of Americans make New Year’s resolutions, but only 8% succeed in keeping them to a place of success!

As you look into this new year, what are some things around which you are tempted to make resolutions?

What would it look like to instead set goals around these same areas?

Taking it one step further, what would it look like to set prayerful goals?

Goals that you set with the Lord’s guidance and direction?

It’s probably fair to say that your chances of success would be much higher than 8%!
