Get Equipped to Prevent Human Trafficking

January 11, 2017

By Presidential Proclamation, January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Through the work of non-governmental agencies, Wednesday, January 11th has been deemed Human Trafficking Awareness Day. For over three decades, Mercy Multiplied has helped thousands of young women overcome life-controlling issues, including sex trafficking. Even with the rise of sex trafficking awareness and crack down in America in recent years, Mercy continues to annually serve a steady number of young women who have been sexually abused and exploited.

Awareness and prevention is not only designated to nonprofit organizations and government programs. You can take an active part in helping end trafficking and exploitation in the United States. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, “Community involvement, awareness, education, and reporting are critical to stopping exploitation.” Bringing an end to trafficking is a fight that we can all get in on.

Mercy Multiplied wants to equip you! The following is an Advocate Tool Kit so you can take action today, the entire month of January, and every day beyond. We’ve included tips to help you recognize the signs and symptoms of trafficking, spread awareness, and utilize resources to report trafficking behavior.
